Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with feature phone makers. The report finds that Taiwanese feature phone industry saw large-scale declines in shipment volume in the first quarter, while ASP rose due to the decrease of value-line products such as GSM and GPRS models. Shipment value, nevertheless, still dropped owing to the decline of shipment volume. With no significant growth drivers to emerge in the immediate future, it is projected that Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume will continue to decline in the second quarter and will not pick up until the third quarter.
